History

The Cottage at Green Hill Farm was built by William Scott, one of Bedford County’s first residents, who arrived here in 1754.  The cottage was the family’s original residence until a larger home on the farm was built around 1790.  The cottage was then used as a kitchen and servants’ quarters.  After being owned by four other families, the farm was purchased by E.E. and Delia Crumpacker Rieley in 1912.  Green Hill Farm has remained in the Rieley family since that time.  A complete restoration of the cottage was completed in 2011.

The Cottage and Rooms

The brick cottage is approximately 1000 sq. feet.  It has a full kitchen, bath with tile and brick shower, 2 sitting rooms and 1 bedroom.
